Get to know Lewis Davis
For more than 30 years, he has worked in the private sector. First Lewis helped operate his father’s timber and home construction business, Lewis C. Davis & Son, for 18 years. Then he started his own business in 1998. Today he owns and operate two businesses here in Troup County. While working with his dad, he was taught not only how to run a successful business, more importantly, he learned conservative values, and how to be fair and courteous to people.
His father taught him to respect, enjoy, and gain strength from the land. Lewis inherited a large tract of rural, undisturbed land from his father, and intends to teach his son that same respect for our natural resources. Lewis and his wife of 17 years, Gay, have one son, Trey, and are members of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange.
Lewis C. Davis Jr. is a member of LaGrange First United Methodist Church, member of the board of directors for the LaGrange Kiwanis Club, member of the Troup County Homebuilders Association, Troup County Chamber of Commerce and Troup County Sportsmen's Club.
Lewis says, "As a Christian, a land-owner and a local businessman, I believe that when it comes to our local government, and particularly the County Commissioners, we need leaders who are conservative yet open-minded and fair. A Commissioner who can look at all sides of an issue to determine what is best not just for District 3 but all of Troup County. Like many of us I am tired of the “politics” of government. The political in-fighting at all levels serves mainly to paralyze action and impede progress. I advocate a more common sense approach which is to listen to all opinions and investigate the solutions before making a decision. Political ideology is not the most important aspect when it comes to the business of Troup County. Doing the right thing is."
My name is Lewis C. Davis Jr. and I want to serve the people of Troup County as County Commissioner representing District 3. As a third-generation resident of Troup County, following in the footsteps of my father Lewis C. Davis and grandfather Lovic Davis, each committed to public service. I understand the needs of our community and am willing to work to improve this county. It was with the encouragement of supporters in the community that I have decided to run for the commission seat. District 3 needs a commissioner with the ability not only to work for the people, but also to work with the other commissioners to get things accomplished for the good of all Troup County residents
I am a conservative Republican and commit to represent the people of District 3 with honesty, respect and service. I do ask for your support and vote in this campaign. Thank you.
Troup County is a great place to live and raise a family. My hope in serving as County Commissioner is to preserve our heritage, protect that which is working well and be willing to make intelligent improvements, as necessary, to keep our community a strong, vibrant place to live and work. We need a Commissioner who will work in cooperation with the cities of West Point, Hogansville and LaGrange on a long-term strategy to ensure the positive momentum of the past continues. We must actively work to attract new companies, restaurants and retail establishments necessary to bring jobs
and new residents which will all help increase the tax base to our county. While growth is essential, I also want to make sure that we follow the zoning plan currently in place in order to maintain the unspoiled beauty and integrity of rural Troup County. Like many of you I also want to do what we can to make sure that West Point Lake is managed properly so that we can enjoy it more fully and truly maximize the benefits of such a wonderful resource.
Lewis Davis has a vision for Troup County’s future
and a plan to get things done.
There is much to be excited about in Troup County. However, there is also much work to be done. I am the candidate that can bring diverse members of the community together to find solutions to the challenges we face. I will provide a balanced, reasonable voice in the county commission to ensure that the decisions being made by the board are being made with the entire community’s best interest in mind. Particularly, in the last few years I have become even more active in the county affairs, regularly attending Commission meetings and other public forums to stay informed on the issues and challenges facing Troup County. As your District 3 commissioner, I will be honored to stand up for the people of Troup County.
Over the next few months, I look forward to meeting even more of the people of District 3 and discussing what is needed to make Troup County an even greater place to live. We do need your help; elections should not be about who is most popular, who can spend the most money or who promises the most. It should be about electing the candidate that best understands the issues and is willing to work hard for the people to deliver the best solutions. We really can't do this without you. I am a conservative Republican and I am committed to represent all the people of District 3 with honesty, respect and service. I do ask for your support and vote in this campaign.
